Book Fair

 

The book fair will be open until November 29th. You can shop during both conferences nights, too! If you send money with your child to school, I will send them to the book fair to shop. 

What we are learning

We have been learning short vowel sounds. This upcoming week we will be focusing on short i with the emphasis on -ig and -it word families. We will also be learning about the -ck ending.



In math, we are going to continue to learn about subtraction. We are working on taking 1 and 2 away from a number. We will also continue to practice adding 1 and 2 to a number.

Halloween Parade

The Halloween Parade is         

Tuesday, October 31, at 1:00 p.m. in the gym. Bring your camera!

Costume reminders: Do not wear your costume to school! Students will dress after lunch. Please do not send your child with play weapons that go with a costume.

Afterwards we will have our annual carnival in the lower elementary hallway!

I would love to have volunteers help out during the carnival! Please let me know if you would like to join the fun!

We are also looking for candy and small prize donations for the carnival games!

Spelling

Starting next week, students will have spelling homework and a spelling test every Friday. The homework is optional but extremely beneficial.  

We ROCK!

 We have been learning about rocks, soil and sand! We have learned how to sort rocks by size, color and shape!

Money

The past  you weeks we have been learning how to count coins to one dollar.  Dig out the coins from the couch cushion and help your child practice counting money. I've also opened the temoporary Cass Store. The students are earning Cass Cash to spend on Fridays when the store is open.  It's been fun to watch the kids earn money and also how some of them will save their money rather than spending it.

 

A warm February day!

 

 

It was a warm and beautiful day on Friday! We couldn't resist being outside! We took an extra recess to enjoy the day and a short walk around the block. All puddles were not avoided! :-)
